Beatrice Joyce Riggs

Beatrice Joyce Sandlin Showalter Riggs, 80, left here to her eternal home to be with her Jesus on April 18, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 19, 1935 in Shirley, Indiana, a daughter of the late Norman and Irene (Crickmore) Sandlin. Joyce was a long-time member of Cross Road Church where she would help out in any way she could. She had retired from World-Bestos, Firestone in New Castle and later worked at Stonebrooke Living. She loved to go to the thrift shops and garage sales. Joyce loved all of her children and grandchildren. She was a giver and would always give and donate to anyone in need. Most of all Joyce loved serving the Lord. Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory include two daughters, Jeanette Stewart and Cindi Sare; two sons, Guy (wife: Donna) Showalter and Joe (wife: Lisa) Riggs; grandchildren, Jeremy (wife: Jennifer) Showalter, Larry (wife: Rae Ann) Cowan, Josh Sare, Angi Showalter, Brook Showalter, Ronnie (wife: Kayla) Showalter, Jordan Riggs, Amanda Fishel, Lucas (wife: Abby) Wright, Amber Wright, Jackie (wife: Erin) Stewart, Kevin Stewart and Nichole Campbell; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Cowan, Lily Stewart, Ryan Cowan, Riley Showalter, Charlie Wright, Brayden Fishel, Evan Fishel, Karlee Swim, Eli Zachary, Kindsey Howell, MaKaelin (husband: Austin) Helm; great-great-grandchildren, Ian and Ellie Howell and Decklynn Helms; special cousins, Geneva Galyen, Jeri Springman, Sadie Smith; in-laws, Herman (wife: Barbara) Riggs, Gary (wife: Sue) Riggs and Joe (wife: Debbie) Riggs. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Riggs; daughter, Dori Joan Riggs; son, John Lee Showalter; grand-daughter, Brandi Blackburn Zachary; son-in-law, Frank Stewart and her BFF, Margaret Paul. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 at Cross Road Church with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Friday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home.
