David Howard Pickle

David Howard Pickle, 69, of New Castle, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, June 27, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel following a brief illness. He was born on June 7, 1956, in Ravenna, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond Dee and Betty Jane (Medhurst) Pickle. David was a 1974 graduate of Ravenna High School and worked in retail store management for many years, primarily with Walmart. Most recently, he served as manager of the Muncie Walmart on West McGalliard. David was a man of few words, but he was generous and thoughtful towards others. He loved the beach, and Siesta Key was a favorite. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, dice, and board games, collecting Zippo Lighters, and flower gardening. David’s pride and joy was his Corvette. He loved all things Corvette and was a member of the Corvette Club of America. He enjoyed visiting and supporting the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Those left to cherish David’s memory include his loving wife of 18 years, Rebecca Ann (Cope) Pickle; children, Genevieve Pickle of Plainfield, Aaron Pickle of Indianapolis, Cody Pickle of Greenwood, Jason (Holly) Cope of Indianapolis, Chasity Freed of Hamilton, Stephanie Chiddister of Pleasant Lake and Shanon (Brandy) Chiddister of Interlachen, FL; 10 grandchildren, Chantel, Bradley, Calob, Kyler, Ryleegh, Grace, TeigAnn, Koltyn, Layley, and Kinlee; five great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Ava, Lane, Larsyn, and Rhylee; his siblings, Pat (Jim) Pangallo of Schererville, Pam Eaves (Robert Smith) of Harlingen, TX, and Raymond (Vicki) Pickle of St. Clair, MI; a brother-in-law, Richard (Penny) Cope of Angola; a sister-in-law, Patty Taylor of Fort Wayne; several nieces and nephews, and his two dogs, Abby and Boozer, and Smoky the cat. A gathering to celebrate David’s life will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Cornerstone Campground and Retreat Center, 75 W. County Road 500 S. New Castle, Indiana.
