Delores Marie "Dee" (Webb) Anderson

Delores Marie “Dee” (Webb) Anderson, 88, of New Castle, passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Henry Community Health. She was born on February 24, 1935, a daughter of the late William and Leona (McQueen) Webb. Dee liked to say she was “born a coal miner’s daughter” in Briceville, Tennessee, and moved to Shelburn, Indiana as a small child. Following graduation from Shelburn High School, Dee moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she met and married William Ray Anderson, Jr. They moved to New Castle, where they raised five children. Dee enjoyed being a homemaker and also working at Meeks Florist, where she loved to arrange flowers. She went on to impact many children as a Librarian at Weir/Eastwood Elementary until retirement. Dee had a passion for nature, books, flowers, crafting, and especially her grandchildren. For over 60 years, Dee was a very active member of St. James Episcopal Church, and she was a life member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority and Daughters of the King. Those left to cherish Dee’s memory include her children, Pat (Elgan “Sonny”) Carter of New Castle, Peggy Jent (Tim Cherry) of New Castle, William Ray “Bill” Anderson, III of Nashville, TN, Paula (Tim) Conarroe of Greenfield, and James M. (Paula) Anderson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Emily (Joe) Bergstrom of Boise, ID, Kristen (Kevin) Thompson of Louisville, KY, David Carter of New Castle, Brad (Heather) Willits of Fortville, and Mallory (Wisdom) Willits Gakpo of Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Juniper Bergstrom, Otis Bergstrom, Lewis Thompson, Lenore Thompson, Teague Smith, Brock Smith, Xavier Gakpo, and River Gakpo; two brothers, Gary (Sharon) Webb of Mooreland and William Webb of Florence, KY, and a sister, Rose (Malcolm) Lyon of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Dietgard Bittner (Aaron) who live in Dresden, Germany, along with their children Mathilda, Emery, and Jasper. Dee hosted Dietgard (Nebulung) as an exchange student in 1996-1997. The Bittner’s continue to be an important part of Dee’s family. Dee was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Anderson, Jr.; a sister, Mildred Demanovitch; a brother, Damon Webb; two infant sisters, Velma Mae and Betty Lou Webb, and two sons-in-law, Rick Jent and Tim Willits. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 21, 2023 at St. James Episcopal Church with Father Brown Mujete presiding. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 2:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday at Sproles Family Funeral Home.
