Donald Rich Jones

Donald Rich Jones, of Muncie, passed away peacefully at Ball Memorial Hospital early in the morning of Sunday, January 12, 2025, completely surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was 72 years of age. He was born on November 8, 1952 in Muncie, Indiana, a son of the late Fordie R. and Norma J. (Roberts) Jones. Donnie was a 1971 Muncie Central High School graduate and married the love of his life, Peggy Bookout, on June 26, 1971. He was a general sales manager for Chevrolet dealerships in Muncie, Anderson, and Marion for over 45 years and was well-loved by his loyal clients and coworkers. Donnie served tirelessly as an expert car salesman, loving husband, and caring father. He seldom went anywhere without running into someone who was most impressed by his goodness and comforting presence. Donnie earned a plethora of titles in his life, including son, husband, father, uncle, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but they were all summarized in the title given to him by his grandchildren, Baboo. Donnie was an active and humble member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years. He enjoyed fishing, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time together with his family. Those left to cherish Donnie’s memory include his “Beautiful Bride” of 53 years, Peggy Jones; his four sons and their wives, Steve (Camilla) Jones of Muncie, Craig (Nickie) Jones of Nineveh, Tim (Jacqueline) Jones of Muncie, and Eric (Morgan) Jones of Muncie; 19 grandchildren, Brigitte (Aaron) Jackson, Jack (Bekkah) Jones, Dana Jones, Xela (Trevor) Ellis, Aurora Hibbert, Graigry Hibbert, Nate Hibbert, Neta Hibbert, Cash Jones, Layla Jones, Hank Jones, Max Jones, Blair Jones, Cole Jones, Gabby Perkins-Walker, Henry Jones, Nora Jones, Chet Jones, and Wesley Jones; four great-grandchildren, Adam Jackson, Violette Jackson, Joan Jackson, and Shelly Ellis; his siblings, Doyle Jones, Kathy Sandifar, Bruce Jones, Karen (Joe) McKinley, Melissa “Missy” (Carl) Napier, and Mark (Amy) Jones; two brothers-in-law, David (Patty) Bookout of Texas and Talmadge (Marsha) Bookout of Indiana, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Charlie. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, Blaine Eric Jones. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4800 W. Robinwood Dr. Muncie, IN, with Bishop Thad Hymas officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Muncie. Friends may call from 11 am until the time of service Friday at the church.
