Dorothy Jones

Dorothy E. Jones, 85, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield. She was born on December 4, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Urban Charles and Sarah Frances (Wilkerson) Berry. Dorothy was a 1953 high school graduate of the Missionary Bands Training Institute in Indianapolis. She then attended the Frankfort Pilgrim Holiness College. Dorothy married the love of her life, Thomas Jones, on February 27, 1958, and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his death in 2015. For many years, Dorothy worked in registration at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville. Dorothy was often described as spunky with a great sense of humor. She never met a stranger and was a sweet, dedicated Christian lady. She and her husband were long-time members of the Bible Covenant Church in Connersville and in recent years attended the Grace Holiness Church in Anderson. Dorothy enjoyed pitching horseshoes, reading, working crossword puzzles, cooking, and playing the piano. She was a great mom and loved her children and grandchildren. Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her daughters, Cynthia (husband: Tim) Thomas of Indianapolis and Denise (husband: Mike) Hall of Anderson; her sons, Daniel Lee (wife: Betty) Jones of Greensburg and Steve (wife: Tonya) Jones of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (husband: Greg) Colvin, Jeremy (wife: Jill) Sherwood, Tyler Jones, Stephen (wife: Courtney) Thomas, Colin (wife: Olivia) Shuler, Cody (wife: Rebecca) Shuler, Kendra (husband: Jason) McCalley, Stetson Jones, and Dakota Jones; 20 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Noah, Mya, Haley, Hudson, Kohlton, Bryce, Evie, Sophia, McKenzie, Landon, Madaline, Aviana, Harper, Remington, Chloe, Olivia, Chance, Jett, and Quinton, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Jones on April 23, 2015; a daughter, Tamara “Tammy” K. Harvey on July 7, 2010, and her brother, Kenneth Berry. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Grace Holiness Church, 3325 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, with Rev. Dale Reynolds and Pastor Tim Wiford officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service Saturday at the church.
