Edward "Eugene" Sells

Edward “Eugene” Sells, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, on his 80th birthday, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on March 25, 1945, in Static, TN, a son of the late Elmer and Beatrice (Dowdy) Sells. Eugene graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1963. He was drafted and served as a paratrooper in the US Army. Eugene married the love of his life, Linda Williams, on September 12, 1968. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in New Castle for over 30 years. Eugene was known as a very kind and patient man. In his spare time, he loved to golf and restore old cars. Eugene and Linda enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises and visiting the Smoky Mountains. Above all else, Eugene loved spending time with his family. Those left to cherish Eugene’s memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Sells; three sons, Jeff (Amy) Sells of Marion, Kelly (Tammy) Sells of Mooreland, and Brad (Holly) Sells of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Chandler (Melody) Sells, Taylor (Cody) Ryan, Aleigh (Jeremiah) Jensen, Alyssa (Chandler) Grogan, Andrew Sells, Alice Sells, Violet Sells, and Levi Edmunds; five great-grandchildren, Henry and McKynleigh Jensen, Tucker Ryan, Easton and Ryker Grogan; a sister, Creola Carter of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Tina Sells of Shirley; two brothers-in-law, Larry Williams of Kentucky, Bob (Jeania) Williams of Eaton, OH; three sisters-in-law, Margie Strunk of Ohio, Kathy Mefford of New Castle, and Angie (Jason) Zentz of New Castle; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Bob and Connie Montgomery, and Wayne and Kit Overton. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Bethel Sells, and an infant brother, Thomas Earl Sells; his in-laws, Ray and Myrtie Williams, and three brothers-in-law, Bill Carter, William Mefford, and Donald Strunk. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 31, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition with military burial honors conducted by contingents from the US Army, American Legion, and V.F.W.
