Erma Stamper

Erma Stamper, 74, of Erlanger, KY, went to be with Jesus on the evening of Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Boonespring Healthcare surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1944 in Trimble County, KY, a daughter of the late Rev. Robert and Ruth (Clem) Kendall. Erma grew up in Kentucky where she graduated in 1963 from Trimble County High School. After school she worked at G. C. Murphy’s department store in Madison, IN and later married the love of her life, Marvin Stamper, on July 30, 1966. Erma was a homemaker that poured her love into her two boys. Her greatest desire was for them to serve Jesus. After raising her boys she worked at Florence Christian Church Day Care for 20 years caring for infants. She was a skilled seamstress and excellent cook who enjoyed nothing more than to have her family gathered around her table. Erma had a green thumb and found great joy in growing flowers. She was also known for her generosity and enjoyed giving well thought out gifts delivered in beautiful packages. Erma was a faithful member of the Gideon's International Women's Auxiliary and could be seen passing out small New Testament Bibles. She loved her family at Burlington Bible Church where she and Marvin attended for many years. Most of all Erma loved the Lord and is now rejoicing in Heaven. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Marvin Stamper; two sons, Tim (wife: Patty) Stamper of Independence, KY and David (wife: Kelly) Stamper of California, KY; twelve grandchildren, Brittany Stamper, Walter (wife: Brenna) Stamper, Charlie (husband: Bowen) Buzard, Chris Stamper, Nathan Stamper, Lily Stamper, Joshua Stamper, Katie Stamper, Jacob Stamper, Kara Stamper, Klarissa Stamper and Kelsey Stamper; a sister, Sue (husband: David) Webb of Kewanna, IN along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas and Virgil Kendall and a brother-in-law, Melvin Wentworth. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's International Faith Fund that is providing scripture to people in countries unable to purchase their own. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Burlington Bible Church 6529 Rogers Lane, Burlington, KY 41005 with Pastor Darrell Stetler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Carthage, KY. Friends may call from 3 - 7 pm, Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the church.
