Gilda D. Hubbell

Gilda D. Hubbell, 73, of Lewisville, passed away unexpectedly at home on the evening of Friday, March 31, 2023. She was born on February 7, 1950, in Shelbyville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Homer J. and Margaret D. (Lipp) Warner. Gilda was a 1968 graduate of Straughn High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis. She provided excellent care for 43 years as a Registered Nurse. For many years, Gilda worked at Houston, Texas, area hospitals as an ER Nurse. She started at Houston Northwest Medical Center and concluded at Conroe Regional Medical Center before moving back to Indiana. Gilda retired in 2012 from Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. Gilda was reunited with the love of her life, Mark Hubbell, and they were married on February 12, 1995. Gilda was a member of the Bentonville-Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lewisville and was an advocate for Women Against Domestic Abuse. Gardening around her rural home in Lewisville brought her great enjoyment. Throughout Gilda’s life, her focus was always on others and meeting their needs. Those left to cherish Gilda’s memory include four children, Jennifer (Michael) Moore of Noblesville, Douglas (Julie) Jones of Indianapolis, Jason Hubbell of Columbus, and Amanda (Jeff) Aldridge of Greenfield; a daughter-in-law, Robin Hubbell of Columbus; six grandchildren, Dalton, Alayna, Bethany, Nephrite, Azurite, Eli, and many others who called her GG; a sister, Duretta (Robert) Garrett of Oakville; a brother, Gregory (Redawna) Warner of Knightstown; a sister-in-law, Mary (Mark) Deming of Lewisville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gilda was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Hubbell in 2021, and by a brother, James Michael Warner in 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 7495 E. 1200 N. Lewisville. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 – 8 pm Wednesday at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be offered to the Ebenezer Cemetery with envelopes available at the funeral home.
