Harold F. Mitchell

Harold F. Mitchell, 86, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 29, 2013 at Golden Living Center/Golden Rule in Richmond. He was born March 19, 1927 in Wayne County, IN, a son of the late Frank P. Mitchell and Flora Toschlog Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell attended and was graduated from Boston High School in Boston, IN through the farm deferment program. Harold married the love of his life, Geraldine Ripberger, on October 7, 1950. Harold loved farming and spent his entire life as a farmer and was active in many organizations related to farming. He was a member of the Henry County Pork Producers and the Henry County Farm Bureau. He also served as an agricultural advisor to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) at Hagerstown High School. Harold was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 861. Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Mitchell of New Castle; his children, Susann (husband: Philip) Wendel of Brookville, Paul (wife: Beth) Mitchell of Brownsburg, Lawrence Mitchell of Hagerstown, Dale Mitchell of New Castle, Mark (wife: Kellie) Mitchell of Economy, Jane (husband: Todd) Barker of Richmond and Lois (husband: Keven) Kukulewicz of Brownsburg; his grandchildren, Michael (wife: Amy) Wendel, Matthew Wendel, Carrie (husband: Nathan) Meyer, Thomas (wife: Jessi) Mitchell, Timothy Mitchell, Nathan (wife: Dawn) Mitchell, Daniel (wife: Samantha) Mitchell, Lucas (fiance: Nellie Bell) Mitchell, Jenna Barker, Erica Barker, Zoe Kukulewicz, two step-grandchildren, Billy (wife: Tabitha) Sizemore and Matthew Sizemore; twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Clarence (wife: Mary Beth) Mitchell of Connersville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Mary Lou Mitchell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church, New Castle, with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery in Hagerstown. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday at the Sproles Family Funeral Home, where a Rosary Service will begin at 4:00 pm. Friends may also call an hour prior to the Mass at the church.
