Hazel Seabolt

Hazel Seabolt, 70, of New Castle, went home to be with Jesus on the afternoon of Monday, February 17, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in New Castle, Indiana, on July 4, 1954, to the late Harold and Elva (Thompson) Downs. Hazel married the love of her life, James E. Seabolt Sr., on February 7, 1975. Hazel’s greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and family. She worked in home health and hospice care before beginning her career with the state of Indiana at The Soldier’s and Sailor’s Home, where she worked until they closed in 2009. She continued her work for the state of Indiana at the Delaware County WorkOne office until retiring in 2014. Hazel loved to cook for the people she cared about. She made the best Sloppy Joe’s and fried potatoes. Hazel enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, Anna, and their special friend, Pam. Hazel was a special lady with a fun-loving personality and a true heart of gold. She never knew a stranger. Those left to cherish Hazel’s memory include her two sons Jerry (Christina) Seabolt of New Castle and Jim (Kim) Seabolt of Hiseville, KY; her daughter, Jody Wesner of New Castle; a special granddaughter, Alley (Austin) Criswell and a special grandson, Kyle Seabolt, both of New Castle; a son-in-law, David Wesner, grandchildren, Ray (Whitney) Seabolt, Crista Batey, Sam Seabolt, Levi Wesner, Karissa Seabolt, Jeri Wesner, and Jami Wesner; great-grandchildren, James, Harbor, Brooklyn, Averie, Carson, Bella-Faye, Aurora, and Melody; her brothers, Jerry Downs and Jim Downs; her sisters, Anna (Bill) Workman and Barbara Addison, and a special nephew, Matt Lyall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; their daughter, Angie, and siblings, Robin, Billy, Curtis, Anita, and Beulah. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
