Irvin "Slick" Wilson

Irvin "Slick" Wilson, 84, of New Castle, passed away at his home on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was born on November 27, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Irvin L. and Dorothy (Donaldson) Wilson. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Slick honorably served his country before returning home to build a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he loved most. Throughout his career, he wore many hats, including working as an over-the-road truck driver and in maintenance, where his strong work ethic and willingness to help others were always evident. He retired as the maintenance supervisor at the CVS Warehouse in Indianapolis. Slick had a passion for the open road and the freedom it represented. He was a devoted Harley-Davidson rider and a true classic car enthusiast who enjoyed sharing stories, memories, and good times with fellow enthusiasts. He was a member of the VooDoo Kings of Indiana Kustom Car Club and found great joy in the friendships he built through his shared interests. When he wasn't riding or working on cars, Slick could often be found outdoors. He loved spending time fishing at many of his favorite spots, including Princess East Lake, where they had a cabin and enjoyed boating, fishing, and family time. Those who knew Slick will remember his kind heart, easygoing nature, and friendly personality. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. His sense of humor, warm smile, and genuine interest in others made him a friend to many throughout the New Castle community. Slick was a member of the American Legion Post #137 and attended First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. He leaves behind many who will cherish his memory, including his wife of 20 years, Carol Wilson; three daughters, Amy (Sonny) DeWitte of New Castle, Toni (Buddy) Howard of Lewisville, and Cheryl (Bob) Zielinski of Fishers; grandchildren, John Michael "Mikey" DeWitte of New Castle and Haley Carter of Bloomington; a great-grandson, Theo Carter; three sisters, Linda Sisk of Pahrump, Nevada, Sandy Heidenreich of Indianapolis, and Sharon Bringman of Franklin; a brother, John Wilson of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Slick was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, Legion Square, with military honors conducted by contingents from the United States Marine Corps and the American Legion Post 137. Friends may call from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be offered to the American Legion Post 137 with envelopes at the funeral home.
