Karen L. Neal

Karen L. (Burke) Neal, 47, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, surrounded with love by her family and friends. She was born, June 17, 1974 in Muncie, Indiana, a daughter of the late, Charles Burke and Rosetta (Richards) Burke. Karen attended Liberty Perry Elementary School, Pilgrim Holiness Academy, and Sound the Alarm Ministry, and was a 1992 graduate of Wapahani High School. She had been employed with Healthy Families at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Community Action as a Social Worker, Madison County Work Release, and Ireland Home Based Services until she took a leave of absence due to her health issues. Karen was the party planner in the family and the party started when she arrived. She also enjoyed late-night trips to the casino’s where she was frequently a winner. She loved her children and was a proud Army mom. She was always there to support her children in their chosen activities. Karen also loved her siblings and her friends. She was affiliated with Tabernacle of Praise Church in Muncie. Those left to cherish Karen’s memory include her children, Evan Terry, Aaron Terry (Jessica), Amelia Neal, and Rachel Neal; her siblings, Jimmy Horr, Chuck Burke (Melanie), Elizabeth Arnold (Jeff), Lynn Rowland (Jeff) and Peggy Gilliam (Eddie); a brother-in-law, Bill Hall; she had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, Sarah Arnold (Omber), Rachel Duncan (Donnie), David Gilliam, Kaylee Armstrong (Teddy), Hannah Gilliam, Madison Rowland, Andrew Rowland, Brayden Wormer, Esther Gilliam, Chloe Hall, and Jaylynn Hall; several great-nieces and nephews; two aunts, Pam Modglin and Martha Richards; a cousin, Robert Steadman (Nikki); her sidekick and best buddy, Peanut, and special friends, Michelle Lamb and Theresa Parker. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Neal Jr., and a sister, Christina Hall. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Tabernacle of Praise, 2200 E. Fuson Rd, Muncie, Indiana, with Pastors John M. Tyner and Billy Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until the time of service Saturday at the church.
