Kenneth Dale Hacker

Kenneth Dale Hacker, 90, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord early on the morning of Monday, April 7, 2025, at Henry Community Health following a brief illness. He was born July 31, 1934, in Martinsville, Indiana, a son of the late Ernest L. and Mabel (Landrum) Hacker. Kenny was well-known and loved for his wit and humor. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his bright blue eyes. Kenny loved talking with people and never met a stranger. He loved sharing stories and memories but never missed an opportunity to witness and tell everyone about Jesus. At the age of 12, he dedicated his life to Christ and served him faithfully until his passing. When the church doors were open, you would find Kenny there. As a dedicated church member throughout life, he served in every position except being the pastor. For the past twenty years, Kenny has been a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church. From childhood, Kenny was handy with his hands, building his own bicycle, sled, and toys. He was dependable and had a strong work ethic. During the day, he worked at Chrysler for 34 years in the Cutter Grind Department, where he was affectionately nicknamed “Hack” by his coworkers, and at night, he farmed. Kenny greatly enjoyed farming, tending his cattle, working on farm equipment, planting his crops, and steadfastly anticipating each year’s harvest. He loved being outside, enjoying the fresh air and sitting under his big shade tree. Kenny graduated from New Castle High School in 1952. He married the love of his life, Sue Strange, on March 5, 1953. Kenny proposed to Sue in the Lewisville Cemetery, where they took many walks, dreaming of their futures together, and now where their dedication and love finally brought them back together. Kenny has kept his mind active in recent years by doing word search puzzles. Throughout each day, you could hear him praying and singing old hymns. He was blessed to remain active until a recent decline in his health. Those left to cherish Kenny’s memory include a son, Chris (Mary Jo) Hacker of Hometown, IL; a daughter, Kim Werking of New Castle; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Julie) Bailey, Susan Bailey, TJ (Kelly) Cingrani, Mark (Heidi) Cingrani, Amanda (Tom) Vrabel, Shawn (Allison) Cingrani, Bethany (Joe) Wilson, Nathaniel (Kielly) Hacker, Matthew Hacker, Janella Rose, Kristen (Adrian) Tucker, Cody Werking, and Cole Werking; his great-grandchildren, Madison (Jordan) Jackson, Dakota Bailey, Sophia Cingrani, James Cingrani, Andrew Cingrani, Alyssa Vrabel, Katlynn Vrabel, Tyler Mathias, TJ Vrabel, Aubrey Mathias, Chloe Mathias, JT Vrabel, Kelvin Coe, Micah Wilson, Lincoln Wilson, Harvie Sue Hacker, Martie Hacker, Kenley Hacker, Brylie Hacker, Averie Rose, Delilah Rose, Luna Rose, Emelia Tucker, and Layla Tucker; a great-great-grandson, Shepherd Dale Jackson; a special dear friend, Martha Stevens of New Castle; two brothers, Harold (Rebekah) Hacker of New Castle and Maurice “Butch” (Elaine) Hacker, of Columbia, MO, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Sue Hacker; a son, Bryan Hacker; a daughter, Cheryl Bailey, who passed away only 12 days ago; a son-in-law, Dale Bailey, and four sisters, Dorothy Schwind, Barbara Ferguson, Lois Thrasher, and Wilma Landrum. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2024, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Raines officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery.
