Lois J. Bailey

Lois Jeanette Bailey, 91, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Henry County Hospital. She was born August 23, 1921 in Henry County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Howard and Esta (McShurley) Brenneman. Lois was a 1938 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and a graduate of Muncie Business College. Lois retired from Citizens State Bank in 1986 after 47 years starting as a teller and finishing her career as an Assistant Vice President. A long time member of First Christian Church, Lois taught Sunday School, was a Deaconess and served the church as an Elder and Trustee. She was also a member of Bykota Sunday School Class. Lois was also a member of the New Castle Chapter Business Professional Women. She volunteered at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and was a member of the Ambassador Club. She is survived by three sons, Bruce E. (wife: Jennifer) Bailey of Cumberland, Alan Bailey of Seattle, Washington and Craig E. (wife: Martyne) Bailey of New Castle; grandchildren, Deanna (husband: Thomas) Chezem and Gracie of Tucson, Arizona, Eric (wife: Amanda) Bailey of Greenfield, Asher Bailey of Seattle, Washington, Eli Bailey of Atlanta, Georgia, Vincent Bailey and Benjamin Bailey both of New Castle, Hannah Meckes of Bloomington and Sophia Robinson of Kennard; great-grandchildren, Brenna Bailey, Lucy Bailey and Tessa Robinson; a sister, Shirley (husband: Donald) Henderson of Pendleton; two sisters-in-law, Glenna Brenneman of Yorktown and Marilyn Wright of Kissimmee, Florida; a brother-in-law, Gene Bailey of Zionsville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Bailey in 1992 and a brother, Robert L. Brenneman in 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mandye Yates officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
