Lois "Beannie" Patterson

Lois “Beannie” Patterson, 77, of Shirley, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield following a brief illness. She was born on February 22, 1946, in Martinsville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Arnold and Affie (Roy) Moran. Beannie was a 1964 graduate of Knightstown High School. She met the love of her life, Jim Patterson, at the “Voice of the Nazarene Camp” in southwestern Pennsylvania and they married on June 13, 1966. Beannie was an excellent seamstress and greatly enjoyed making candy and giving it away to friends and neighbors. She and Jim also enjoyed bargain hunting and visiting flea markets and auctions. Beannie served as a “dorm mom” at the David Lee Perry Christian School in Shirley and had also assisted at the Covenant Christian Academy in Indianapolis. She and Jim were long-time members of Southeastern Holiness Church in Indianapolis. Recently, they had been attending Shirley Gospel Mission which was the church Beannie attended as a child and where she and Jim were married. Those left to cherish Beannie’s memory include her loving husband of 56 years, Jim Patterson; a sister, Vivian Lackey of Knightstown; a brother, Jim (Shannon) Moran of Muncie, and nephews and nieces, Tom Lackey, Steve Lackey, Melissa Hammitt, Timothy Moran, Amy Suding, and April Thomas. In addition to her parents, Beannie was preceded in death by a brother, George Moran, a sister, Charity Moran, and a niece, Donna Dollens. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Shirley Gospel Mission with Pastor Charles Riggs and Pastor Kenny Stetler officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service Saturday at the church.
