Margie Marie Denney

Margie Marie Denney, 80, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, August 22, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 16, 1942, in Albany, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Chester and Mattie (Stearns) Ferguson. On February 7, 1959, Margie married the love of her life, Orville Denney, and they owned and operated Denney’s Greenhouse and Market for nearly 40 years. In 1990, she retired from Henry County Hospital following 17 years of employment. Margie loved the Lord and treated all with kindness and warmth. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She and Orville enjoyed traveling, spending time at their home in Florida, and deep-sea fishing. When in Florida, they loved to go to The Villages to listen to music and dance together. A flower of any bloom would bring Margie joy. She had a generous heart of gold, always putting others first. If she ever met a stranger, they soon became her friend. In recent years, she and Orville would have a “nightly date” and drive out to Summit Lake to see the eagles and deer. Margie met life with humor until the very day she passed, and her laughter will never be forgotten. Those left to cherish Margie’s memory include her husband of 63 years, Orville Denney; her children, Sharon (Rick) Herbert, Sheila (Chuck) Brown, Scott Denney, Sandy Denney Ammerman (Pete Lowe), Shirley (Scott) Reece, and Steven Denney (Kristi Gzym); nine grandchildren, Brandon (Emily) Herbert, Amanda (Ron) Schaeffer, Travis (Sarah) Fox, Malcolm (Courtney) Denney, Jaysun (Cristina) Ammerman, Jaycob (Merika) Ammerman, Tyler (Rachel) Reece, Tayler (Bryce) Clark, and Cassidy (Kylar) McCrobie; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Chester (Belinda) Ferguson Jr., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jay Ammerman; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Denney; her sisters and brothers, Oleta Whitehead, Wilma Cash, Betty Butler, Kenneth Ferguson, and Willie Ferguson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastors Gene Bennett and Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home and from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
