Nancy Blevins Bonanza

Nancy A. Blevins Bonanza, after many health challenges in recent months, left her earthly home surrounded by her family who loved and prayed her into her eternal heavenly home on the evening of Wednesday, April 23, 2025. She was 84. She was born on January 29, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Hugh Allen Macy and Judy A. (Spacey) Macy. Nancy was raised in Westfield by her beloved aunt Nellie Macy and her grandmother, Bessie Macy. In her childhood, she attended Union Bible Seminary Academy in Westfield and was a 1960 graduate of Westfield Washington High School. Among other jobs throughout the years, Nancy was a homemaker and mom to her three children, and she worked at Dunn Mental Health Center in Richmond as a quality assurance clerk in clinical records from 1978 to 1996. Nancy retired in 1996 and moved to Florida to be near her first grandson, Mitchell. She married Charles “Ted” Blevins in 1965. Later in life, she married Mike Bonanza in 2000, and they enjoyed eight years of fun and travel until his passing in 2008. Nancy was a teenager in the 1950s and loved growing up in that era of poodle skirts, saddle shoes, pop beads, and Elvis Presley. She was friendly and outgoing and never met a stranger. People often called her “Lucille Ball” because of her humor and wit. She would come off the plane every time she flew with a new friend, their phone number, and a new recipe. Nancy was a strong Christian, having grown up in the Quaker faith. Her walk with God was always of utmost importance to her, and even in her last days, she was preaching the gospel. Nancy was an excellent cook and was always trying new recipes. She loved feeding anyone who walked through her door. Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include a daughter, Lanell (Rocky) Fisher, and two sons, David (Amber) Blevins of Hagerstown and Darrin (Robyn) Blevins, all of Hagerstown; a special step-son, Todd (Sandy) Bonanza of Rockledge, FL; seven grandchildren, Mitchell Stitt, Mason (Katelyn) Stitt, Lane Blevins, Hailey Blevins, Cameryn Blevins, David (Colleen) Bonanza, and Daniel (Marisa) Bonanza; a great-grandson, Charlie Stitt; three sisters, Ann (Jim) Tash of Connersville, Camilla Britt Ruble (John) of Waldron, and Susan (Mike) Adkins of Hagerstown; a brother, W.E. “Butch” Macy (Viva) of Cedar City, Utah, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by both husbands, her special aunt, Nellie, and her beloved Shih Tzu and companion of almost 15 years, Max. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
