Robert Kenton Powell

Robert Kenton Powell, 46, of Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. He was born on September 22, 1976 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of Robert M. and Karen Sue (Lynn) Powell. Robert was a 1994 graduate of Franklin Township High School. He married the love of his life, Rebeccah Romans, on September 18, 2008. Robert served as a Combat Engineer in the US Army in Germany and Iraq. After leaving the military, he worked in security positions. Robert loved humor and was currently taking classes to be a comedian with actor Peter Spellos. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed gaming and attending Comic Con conventions. In addition to his father, Robert Powell of Deltona, FL, those left to cherish Robert’s memory include his wife, Rebeccah Powell; six children, Devin (Cassidy) Powell, stationed with US Army at Fort Campbell, KY, and Arianna Powell, Alexis Powell, James Romans, Michael Powell, and Benjamin Powell all of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Mala’Kai Powell, Lily’Mae Marcos, and Lucas Powell; three sisters, Tina McKinney, Carrie Holmes, and Amanda (John) Fisher all of Indianapolis; a brother, Scott Powell of Indianapolis; his inlaws, Calvin and Paula Romans of Indianapolis; a brother-in-law, Isaac Romans of Indianapolis, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Powell, and by a great-niece, Vayda Sue Parmer. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Southport Church of the Nazarene with Rev. William E. Swesey, Rev. Tim Lanigan, and Rev. Mike Else officiating. Military funeral honors will be conducted by contingents from the US Army and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Military Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Oaklandon Cemetery.
