Thomas Jones

Thomas Edward Jones, 80, of Anderson, formerly of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Alexandria Care Center. He was born November 5, 1934 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a son of the late Herman C. and Elma N. Jones. Tom lived in Connersville for 43 years and worked for the National Metal Casket Company in Connersville and L.S. Ayres Department Store in Indianapolis. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, collecting knives and die cast cars. He was a long-time member of the Bible Covenant Church in Connersville. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Berry) Jones; his daughters, Cynthia (husband: Tim) Thomas of Indianapolis and Denise (husband: Mike) Hall of Anderson; his sons, Daniel Lee (wife: Betty) Jones of Greensburg and Steve (wife: Tonya) Jones of Laurel; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (husband: Greg) Colvin, Jeremy (wife: Jill) Sherwood, Tyler Jones, Stephen Thomas, Colin (wife: Olivia) Shuler, Cody Shuler, Kendra (husband: Jason) McCalley, Stetson Jones and Dakota (wife: Miranda) Jones; ten great-grandchildren, Ethan, Noah, Mya, Haley, Hudson, Kohlton, Evie, Sophia, McKenzie and Landon. He was preceded in death by his parents including his birth mother, Frances (Dillahay) Jones, who died during Tom’s childhood; a daughter, Tamara “Tammy” K. Harvey on July 7, 2010, and three sisters, Mary Nugent, Joyce Jones and Patricia Walker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Grace Holiness Church, 3325 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, with Rev. Dale Reynolds and Rev. Tim Wiford officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors provided by contingents from the US Army, VFW and the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
