Toni Mardelle Coleman

Toni Mardelle Coleman, 76, of Hagerstown, left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, to forever live in the presence of Jesus. She was born on August 13, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of the late Walter and Ardelle (McGuigan) Thomson. Toni loved God, her family, her church, and all of her many students over her nearly 40 years of teaching. Passionate, vibrant, enthusiastic, and encouraging are just a few words that describe a wonderful lady who impacted many lives as a teacher, pastor’s wife, mother, grammy, and friend. Toni graduated from Redford Union High School in Redford, Michigan, and married the love of her life, Ronald Coleman, on December 26, 1968, just before he left for Vietnam. She was a faithful companion and helpmeet to Ron as they pastored New Life Holiness Church in Hagerstown since 1979. Toni began teaching at the Pilgrim Holiness Academy in Muncie in 1986 and Heartland Christian School in New Castle in 2013. She was her student’s biggest cheerleader. In her downtime, Toni enjoyed reading. Those left to cherish Toni’s memory include her husband of 56 years, Pastor Ron Coleman; her son, Sean (Tia) Coleman of Frankton; her daughter, Dr. Erin (Joshua) Means of Lake Lotawana, MO; seven grandchildren, Amber Coleman, Cody (Brittany) Cox, Caleb Means, Callie Means, Carly Means, Iestyn Hickman, and Giovanni Means, and five great-grandchildren, Leland Flowers, Cadence Coleman, Corbin Coleman, Sebastian Crane, and Samuel Cox. In addition to her parents, Toni was preceded in death by a grandson, Zach Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025 at Heartland Christian School, 3340 W. County Road 100 S., New Castle, Indiana, with Pastor Rick Welch and Dr. Adam Buckler officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown. Friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 pm Sunday at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Toni's funeral service will not be live-streamed.
