Rev. Vernon Eugene Stimpert

Rev. Vernon Eugene Stimpert, 82, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at his home. He was born July 7, 1930, in Lewisville, OH, a son of the late Clarence and Blanche (Denbow) Stimpert. He was a member of the South Side Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Stimpert was a full time pastor, the following encompasses his pastoral career; August, 1957, Kingston Church of the Nazarene, Kingston, OH; February, 1961, Lithopolis Church of the Nazarene, Lithopolis, OH; August, 1965, Southpoint Church of the Nazarene, Southpoint, OH; February, 1967, Northland Church of the Nazarene, Columbus, OH; February, 1978, Warren Avenue Church of the Nazarene, Columbus, OH, there he founded the first Cambodian Church of the Nazarene; February, 1987, Johnstown Church of the Nazarene, Johnstown, OH; October, 1987, Zanesville North Side Church of the Nazarene, Zanesville, OH; He retired from the ministry in July, 1995 and was hired as full- time Chaplain and Hospice Care at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, OH until 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Norma Lee (Billman) Stimpert, 69, of Lewisville, OH, in September, 2002; He then met, married and is now survived by his wife, Juaneta Elaine Stimpert of New Castle. Surviving family are his children, Vickie (Chris) Conrad of Tucson AZ, Michael (Leora) Stimpert of Conesville, OH, Daren Stimpert of Shawnee, KS, and Tonya (Chris) Gammello of New Castle; stepsons, Delbert Jeffery (Katrina) Fox and Dale Wayne (Jeannie) Fox, both of New Castle; grandchildren, Heather (Scott) Pierce of Tucson, AZ, Teresa Conrad- Jansen of Yucaipa, CA, Jason, Joshua, Sarah and Cody Stimpert of Columbus, OH, and Hannah and Lexi Gammello of New Castle; step grandsons, Joshua Fox of Las Vegas, NV, Travis Fox of Florence, SC, Samuel and Quinten Fox of New Castle, Jeremy Bradford and Joshua and Jordon Burris of Conesville, OH; great-grandchildren, Everett Stimpert of Columbus, OH, Makayla and Myra Medina of Columbus, OH, and Shelby and Lorelei Pierce of Tucson, AZ; brother, Sam (Barb) Stimpert of Mt. Vernon, OH; sister, Helen (Earl) Weber of Newark, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred (Virgil) Highman of Zanesville, OH. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at the South Side Church of the Nazarene, 2805 S. 14th St., New Castle, IN, 47362, with Rev. Michael Dees and Dr. Ron Blake officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Friendship Cemetery, 33765 State Route 78, Lewisville, OH, 43754, with Rev. Chris Conrad and Rev. Chris Gammello officiating.
