Cecil Troxell

Cecil Troxell, 88, of New Castle, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 4, at 5:40 a.m. surrounded by his family and Heritage House special staff who loved and cared for him for the last year and a half. Born April 14, 1925 in Monticello, Kentucky, the son of the late Westly and Maimie (Crabtree) Troxell. He retired from Perfect Circle of New Castle on April 1, 1975 after 31 years and eight months of service. Cecil was a faithful member of Westview (Broad St.) Church of the Nazarene since 1949. He laid brick and helped build the original Broad Street Church and over the years served as usher, bus driver, teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Cecil enjoyed family, gardening, fishing, camping, coon hunting, his dogs and bluegrass music. He is survived by three daughters, Patty (husband: John) Carr, Sheila Ball and Sonja (husband: Robert) Hoover all of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Brenda (husband: Mike) Evans, Cathy Flockhart, Jeff (wife: Cindy) Cross and Gina (husband: Tony) Marcum all of New Castle, Zephra Martin of Kempner, TX and Hannah (husband: Jason) Ford of Muncie and Jared (wife: Beth) Ferguson of New Castle; 13 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and enjoyed, Billy Cross, Jeffrey (wife: Kara) Cross, Chase and Chris Marcum, Lauren Fox, John M. Evans, Honor Flockhart, Alan Martin, Kaylee Martin, Isabelle, Graham, Liliana and Preston Ferguson; one great-great-grandson, Draven Fox; two sisters, Lois (husband: Pete) Binford of New Castle and Mary (husband: Tom) Williams of Kentucky; two brothers, Lorn (wife: Effie) Troxell of Hagerstown and Arnold (wife: Sarah) Troxell of Indianapolis; a close and special friend, John F. Davis and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nora Troxell, on March 6, 2012; two sisters, Margie Creselious and Rosie Cross; a brother, Elvin E. Troxell; a son-in-law, Jerry L. Ball and an infant sister, Cordia Margaret Troxell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Max Downs and Pastor Paul Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
