Christina (South) Neel

Christina (South) Neel, 71, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Henry County Hospital. She was born April 5, 1943 in Fentress County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late William Clyde and Vonnie (Hurst) South. Christina was a 1961 graduate of Knightstown High School. She then married the love of her life, George Neel and together they enjoyed many years of marriage. She retired in 1996 from Actel Lucent Technologies following 32 years of employment. Christina attended First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Pure in Heart Sunday School Class. She loved her cats and enjoyed reading and travel. She was a sports fan and loved watching the Indiana Hoosiers, Colts and NASCAR, especially Darrell Waltrip. Those left to cherish Christina’s memory include a sister, Kay (husband: Ray) Phelps of New Castle; two brothers, Clyde (wife: Pam) South of Knightstown and Wayne (wife: Sue) South of New Palestine; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Christina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Neel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie and James Cox, Doris and Gary Barr and an infant sister, Thelma South. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastors Jonathan Morgan and Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
