Donald W. Pierson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald William Pierson, known to his friends as “Crazy Don,” passed away peacefully, Monday, January 13, 2014 at The Waters of New Castle. Don was 88. He was born September 7, 1925 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Charles and Talberta (Griffin) Pierson. Don served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during World War II. He operated heavy machinery in construction work for many years and loved tanning, dancing, dogs, NASCAR, the Colts and the Pacers. Don leaves behind two daughters, Donna Stanley and J.K. McPherson; a son, Kyle Pierson; two grandchildren, Kimberly Towe and Joseph Stanley; four great-grandchildren, Aeryka and Emily Towe and Tyler and Kayleigh Stanley; several nieces and nephews; a beloved caregiver, Wyona Altom and many friends in New Castle and Beech Grove. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Veria Kathryn Wolf; an infant son, Monford Kyle Pierson; a son-in-law, Bobby Stanley; a brother, Horace “Bud” Pierson and a sister, Peggy Doane. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Don Raines officiating. Military Honors will be provided by a contingent from the U.S. Navy, American Legion and V.F.W. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, Legion Hill.
