July 29, 1932 - May 14, 2018
Dorothy Lorene (Manning) Tyler, 85, of Shelbyville, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Monday, May 14, 2018 at Waldron Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 29, 1932 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Edward and Artimecca (Dibbler) Manning. Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Chandler High School. When Dorothy was 19, following the sudden death of her mom, she gave her heart to the Lord and dedicated her life to passionately serving her Lord and others. She worked 10 years for the Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City and married the love of her life, Rev. Forrest Tyler, on April 5, 1960. She then became a homemaker and faithful companion in ministry. Dorothy loved people, especially young people, and entertaining guests as a pastor’s wife. She had a great sense of humor and insisted on all people being treated with love and respect. She had a heart for ministry and was a prayer warrior. Dorothy journaled all of her many prayer requests that God had answered over the years. She loved growing flowers in her flower garden. Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her three children, Deanne (husband: David) Crane of Cincinnati, Lora (husband: Tom) Elliott of Shelbyville and Jeff (wife: Karen) Tyler of Indianapolis and one grandson, Andrew Crane of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Forrest Tyler; three brothers, Edward Manning Jr., Leaun “Bud” Manning, and Vernon Manning and a sister, Cleta Morrison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Shelbyville Bible Holiness Church, 2911 East Michigan Road, Shelbyville, Indiana, with Pastor Joseph Smith and Rev. Rollin Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 pm Friday at the church and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle. Memorial Contributions may be offered to Union Bible College, 434 S. Union St. Westfield, Indiana 46074.
