Elma Jean Wilson, 88, of Springport went to be with the Lord Friday, December 24, 2010 at Community Hospital in Anderson. She was born in rural Oakville, Indiana on July 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Herbert L. and Ethel (Evans) Wampler. Jean was a 1940 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. She married Ellis G. Wilson in March of 1942 and they moved to Camp Lee, Virginia while he was in the service. She had worked in the office at Borg Warner in Muncie and later at Redelman’s in New Castle. She was a member of the Luray Church of the Nazarene, now Blue River Valley Worship Center for 54 years serving as treasurer for over 50 years. Her family was very important to her and she helped raise all of her grandchildren in one manner or another. In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Wilson of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Lori (husband: Tony) McWilliams of Pendleton, William Wilson of Springport, Frederick (wife: Laura) Wilson of Parker City, Nicole (husband: Aaron) Bush of Albany, Ryan (wife: Brittany) Sheler of Pendleton, Andrew (wife: Kelly) Sheler of Indianapolis, Andrea (husband: Andrew) Shively of Anderson; 14 great-grandchildren; a beloved nephew, Carl (wife: Jenny) Wilson of Albany, Kentucky, and a niece, Marla Tolbert of Muncie. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis G. Wilson; a son, Larry Ellis Wilson and a sister, Ruth Bell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastors Dave Whitteberry and Ben Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
