Rev. Ernest B. Plemmons Sr.
July 15, 1935 - December 9, 2021
Rev. Ernest B. Plemmons, Sr. age 86, of Tipton, Indiana, was welcomed into Heaven in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. On July 15, 1935, Ernest was born in Marion, North Carolina, to Howard and Emma (Davis) Plemmons, who preceded him in death. At the age of 7, he moved to Michigan, where he would eventually meet the woman of his dreams, Patricia "Evelyn" Welch. Ernest was serving in the US Marine Corps when he fell in love with Evelyn, and they were wed in Taylor, Michigan, on September 7, 1957. To this union, five children were born. Ernest pastored in Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio for 53 years and traveled in evangelistic work for two years. His passion was pastoring and winning souls to Jesus. He thrived on pastoral visitation and considered his outside employment as a journeyman meat cutter his mission field. He started cutting meat in a meat market called Tom and Jerry's in Taylor, Michigan, when he was 16 years old and has worked in several chain meat departments, such as Farmer Jack, Food City, etc. Ernest had a true servant's heart, and yet his main goal in life was to win souls to Jesus. In the last few years, he started to show signs of memory loss and moved to Tipton, Indiana, to be with family as he walked the next few steps of his journey toward Heaven. It was a joy for him to live with his daughter, Kathie Manns, and her family during this transition period. While in Indiana, he attended the Noblesville Pilgrim Holiness Church in Noblesville, Indiana. Ernest is survived by his wife Evelyn Plemmons of Tipton, IN; two daughters, Cheryl Watters of Cincinnati, OH and Kathie Manns of Tipton, IN; two sons, Ernest (Ginger) Plemmons of Trinity, NC, and Paul "Dan" (Leah) Plemmons of Rochester Hills, MI; a daughter-in-law, Jeannette Plemmons of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother, Kenneth Plemmons of Texas; grandchildren, Jason (Kara), Andrew (Jennifer), Ryan (Danielle), Donnie, Ashley (Drew), Holly (Justin), Travis, Olivia, Jacynda, Heidi (Jamin), Jewelianna, Wyatt, Randy (Kelley), Robert, David, Joseph, Allyssa, Emily (Slade), Amber (Seth), Clayton and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Donald Plemmons, Sr.; a brother, Edward Plemmons; three sisters, Eulala Pemberton, Louise Chriss, and Lily Marie, who died in infancy, and a son-in-law, Steven Watters. Due to the Covid outbreak, funeral services will be held privately, with Rev. Clayton Plemmons, Rev. John Forsee, and Rev. Don Nichols officiating. The family invites you to join the live stream of the funeral service by Clicking Here beginning at 12:50 pm Monday, December 20, 2021. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield, Indiana. Due to family allergies to flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be offered to the Noblesville Pilgrim Holiness Church - 1413 Westfield Rd, Noblesville, IN 46062, or if you so desire, please send green plants.
