Rev. Gary Isaacs

Rev. Gary Isaacs, 71, of Southport, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly early on the morning of Sunday, November 21, 2021, in the comfort of his home. He was born April 7, 1950, in Columbus, Indiana, a son of the late Rev. Wayne and Virginia (Vandervort) Isaacs. Gary was a graduate of Frankfort Wesleyan College in Frankfort, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Karen Gill, on May 23, 1970, and together they ministered for 32 years in the Wesleyan Church. A patient, loving, and kind man, Gary pastored Wesleyan churches in Wheatland, Mecca, Michigantown, Mitchell, and Arlington, Indiana. He enjoyed connecting and nurturing personal relationships with not only his parishioners but also everyone in the community. Along with his wife, Gary also enjoyed ministering through music. Gary led with a servant’s heart and was good with children and senior citizens alike. Gary had served as District Youth Director, as a member of the Ministerial Standing Board, and as a substitute teacher for many years in the communities where he pastored. He loved cooking, gardening, and more recently attending Christy’s Auction in Southport. In recent years, Gary and his wife faithfully attended Southport Church of the Nazarene. Those left to cherish Gary’s memory include his loving wife of 51 years, Karen Sue; two sons, Jason Isaacs of Southport and Jeffrey (Christina) Isaacs of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rachel (David) Huff of Shirley; a sister-in-law, Melody (Marc) Dodrill of Knightstown; a brother-in-law, Jack (Karen) Gill of Bowling Green, OH; and multiple nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Southport Church of the Nazarene, 920 E. Southport Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana, with Pastor William Swesey officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday at the church. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 29, 2021, at Blue River Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Arlington, Indiana.
