July 30, 1944 - January 3, 2021
Georgetta M. “Gid” Cooper, 76, of Greenfield, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Sunday, January 3, 2021 at IU Health North in Carmel. She was born on July 30, 1944, in Batesville, Arkansas, a daughter of the late George Newton Barnes and Viola Frances (McClusky) Barnes. Georgetta was a 1962 graduate of Prairie High School in Tipton County, Indiana, and attended Union Bible Seminary in Westfield. She married the love of her life, Larry Cooper, on July 3, 1965, and was a faithful companion in ministry with her husband as they pastored churches in Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana. Georgetta and her husband also served many Christian Schools as teacher and principal. She served as administrative assistant to the chairman of the International Conservative Holiness Association. She was a member of the Greenfield Immanuel Holiness Church. Georgetta’s personality was as large as life itself. She loved to laugh, have fun, and play games. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel, vacation, and especially go on cruises. Most importantly, was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and couldn’t go a day without speaking to each one by phone. Those left to cherish Georgetta’s memory include her loving husband of 55 years, Larry Cooper; three daughters, Jodi (Floyd III) Hyatt of Indianapolis, Tami Mitchell of Kannapolis, NC, and Felicia (“Sir” Daniel) Rhodes of Oak Hill, Ohio; five grandchildren, Zac (Kelsey) Hyatt, Ryan Hyatt, Brandon Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, and Clarissa Grape; two great-grandchildren, Macie and Nash Hyatt; siblings, Ruby Roberson of Champaign, IL, Guy (Betty) Barnes, and Doris (Harold) Gibbons, and Barbara (Leonard) Hodson all of Kokomo; a brother-in-law, Gary Jones of Memphis, TN, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Leach and Rev. Marc Dodrill officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery in Greenfield. The funeral will be Livestreamed Here starting at 1:45 pm Wednesday.
