    Rev. Glendon D. Stroud

    June 29, 1937 - May 6, 2021

Rev. Glendon D. Stroud, 83, of Columbus, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville, Indiana. On June 29, 1937, he was born in Barberton, Ohio, a son of the late Glendon and Dorothy (Conant) Stroud. Rev. Stroud attended Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. He dedicated his life to ministry, serving as a pastor, evangelist, and church planter. He especially had a heart for home missions and started many churches. Rev. Stroud was a man of deep faith and was always helping others whenever he saw a need. Very much a people person; he loved to joke and was a great storyteller. Glendon was always busy and spent much time studying, preparing sermons, and entertaining people in his home. He enjoyed driving, especially Semi-Trucks across the country. He relished the fact that he had visited all of the 48 continental states plus Mexico and Canada. He also taught drivers education. In his younger years, he served our county in the US Army National Guard. Those left to cherish Glendon’s memory include his wife, Loretta M. (Carpenter) Harris Stroud whom he married October 17, 2015; a daughter, Sharon (Robert) Hale of Montclair, VA; three grandchildren, Scott (Lyra) Hale of Williamsburg, VA, Jessica (Alec) Millar of Manassas, VA, and Erin Hale of Williamsburg, VA; five great-grandchildren, Soren, Estlin, Isla, Evelyn, and Carter; two brothers, Jerry (Karen) Stroud of Mansfield, OH and Jack (Bonnie) Stroud of Orrville, OH; three step-children, Timothy (Lea) Harris of Noblesville, Laura Harris Quakenbush of Greenwood, and Todd Harris of Indianapolis; nine step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Barrick) Stroud, in 2009, and by a sister, Cheerie Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Monday, May 10, 2021, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Marc Dodrill officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 - 5:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm CST Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Wiley Cemetery in rural Ellisville, Illinois, with Rev. Gordon Barrick officiating.
