J.W. Nunley

J.W. Nunley, 88, of Losantville, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Monday, January 1, 2024. He was born on May 19, 1935, in Coalmont, Tennessee, a son of the late Pete and Abbie (Coffelt) Nunley. J.W. married the love of his life, Judy Hall, on June 1, 1957. He worked in the coal mines of Tennessee prior to moving to Indiana. J.W. was a welder by trade and worked for JM Hutton Casket Company for over 45 years, starting at their plant in Carlos and finishing his career in Richmond. He was a member of New Beginnings Worship Center in New Castle. Everywhere J.W. went, he would invite people to church and talk about the Lord, constantly testifying to others about what the Lord did for him. J.W. had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, and keeping his lawn mowed to perfection. J.W. dearly loved his family; wherever Judy went, you would see J.W. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and papaw. Those left to cherish J.W.’s memory include his loving wife of 66 years, Judy Nunley; a son, Jefferson (Vanda) Nunley of Losantville; a daughter, Teresa (Mort) Radford of Modoc; four grandchildren, Alicia (Scott) Goodwin of Parker City, Angela Radford-Hart of Hagerstown, Jefferson Nunley Jr. of Muncie; and Abbie (Ryan) Lindsey of Losantville; great-grandchildren, Cayden Nunley, Lex Pierce, Lilly Pierce, Miranda Lindsey, Allie Nunley, Adalyn Hart, and Macie Lindsey; siblings, Joseph Nunley of Modoc, Eddie Vincent of Mooreland, Paul (Tracy) Nunley of Mooreland, and Stanley (Teresa) Nunley of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Shrum and Louise Carnes, and by a brother, Francis Nunley. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mort Radford officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Losantville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
