    James L. Williams

    March 29, 1941 - April 10, 2011

    James “Jim” L. Williams, 70, of Muncie, went home to be with his Lord early Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Marion. He was born March 29, 1941 in Delaware County, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Wright) Williams. Jim was a 1960 graduate of Muncie Central High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church and enjoyed taking care of the lawn work at the church. Jim was a Boy Scout leader for several years. He loved fishing and had many fishing friends and was a loving brother. He is survived by a son, James L. (wife: Patricia) Williams Jr. of Drexdell, PA; a brother Joseph, F. Williams of San Jose, CA; three sisters, Betty Andrews of Garrett, Sharon (husband: Gary) Sims of Gaston, and Barbara (husband: John) Ryder of Muncie; two granddaughters, Corrina and Alexander Williams of Drexdell, PA an uncle, Jerry (wife: Jackie) Wright of Muncie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom, Katherine Henson and one brother, Robert E. Williams. A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Bethel United Baptist Church, 301 N. Eastwood Dr., Muncie, with Pastor Daryl Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Marion National Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Baptist Church with envelopes available at the service. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Veterans Affairs Northern Indiana Heath Care Systems for their thoughtfulness and care.
