Joyce Dalene Ballenger

February 24, 1936 - May 9, 2022

Joyce Dalene Ballenger, 86, of New Castle, died on the evening of Monday, May 9, 2022 at Henry Community Health. She was born on February 24, 1936 in Taylor County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James D. and Dorsie May (Wood) Wright. Joyce grew up in the Kennard and Knightstown area. She moved to Florida in 1984 and worked for many years at K-Rain in Riviera Beach assembling lawn sprinkler systems. Joyce enjoyed clogging, square dancing, and country music. She was a long-time member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory include two sons, Gary Brumfiel of New Castle and Bret Saul of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Tina (Rick) Bloom of Stoughton, WI; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Rosanne) Wright of Walnut Creek, CA; two sisters, Carol Higgins of New Castle and Jana (Kenny) Sharkey of Naples, FL, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Higgins; a nephew, Mark Adams, and a niece, Stephanie Wright. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 13, 2022, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Elder Dick Webster officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
