Karen Jo Hall

Karen Jo Hall, 61, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at home after a lengthy illness. She had been lovingly cared for by her three daughters over the past five years following a decline in health. She was born on August 9, 1960, in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Virginia (Corbin) Catron and Francis “Mike” Vannatta. Karen attended St. Anne Catholic School and was a 1979 graduate of Chrysler High School in New Castle. She worked at Pizza King for 25 years starting at Top Hat on Broad Street before being promoted to store manager in Hagerstown. Karen was a kind-hearted person who would help anyone in need and never met a stranger. For fun she loved to play bingo but what made her most happy was spending time with her family. Karen was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish Karen’s memory include three loving daughters, Bobbie Thompson, Courtney Hall (Jon Catron, and Molly Hall (Jason Caudill) all of New Castle; six grandchildren, Macaylah Thompson, Blake Lawson, Collin Lawson, Aiden Catron, Jace Caudill, and Kora Caudill; a sister, Terrie Vannatta (Gina) of Bloomington; a brother, Robert “Bob” (Autumn) Vanatta of Lewisville; her mother-in-law, Shirly Hall of New Castle; brother-in-law, Brent Hall of New Castle, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and close friends of Bobbie, Melissa and Joshua Beem. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandmother, Wilma Corbin, and by her father-in-law, Shelby Dewayne Hall, Sr. Karen’s services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The Sproles family and staff are honored to serve the family of Karen Jo Hall.
