    Lesley Katherine Reece

    September 25, 1926 - October 25, 2019

    Lesley Katherine Reece, 93, of New Castle passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Friday, October 25, 2019 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. She was born on September 25, 1926 in Melbourne, Australia a daughter of the late Nellie (Slade) Orpen. Lesley was married to Max Eugene Reece on January 20, 1949. She graduated high school then attended college for secretarial management. Lesley later became the office manager for Walden’s Photography for 25 years before retiring in 1987. She enjoyed knitting and made baby caps for ICAP that were passed out to newborns in the hospital. Lesley was a longtime member of the Teapot Club formed in 1945 by a group of foreign war brides, that still meets monthly. She was also a faithful member of the Eastern Star and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cheryl (K. Edward) Miller of New Castle, Wendy (Glynn) Ashdown of Knightstown, Greg Reece (Cindy Mawk) of New Castle; grandchildren, Aaron (Angie) Miller, Megan Miller, Uriah Binion, Geoffrey Binion, Allison (Brice) Darling and Emily Reece; great-grandchildren, Rylee Miller, Kolby Miller, Jacob Binion, Holly Binion, Heather Binion, Jackson Binion, Claudia Binion, Shawn Binion, Sawyer Darling and Colton Darling; special friends, Vesta Byrd, Dick (Joan) Ice, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lesley was preceded in death by her husband, Max Reece; two brothers, Harry and Charlie Orpen; sister-in-law, Juanita Reece, and special friends, Donald Paull and Joy Baase. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Masko officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 – 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be offered to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
