Louise Shelley

December 26, 1924 - August 1, 2017

Louise Shelley, 92, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at The Waters of New Castle following an extended illness. She was born on December 26, 1924 in Albany, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Cal and Nancy Jane (Rigney) Thompson. Louise married Wendell Hugh Shelley on February 8, 1949 in Jamestown, TN and they moved to New Castle in 1950. She had worked at Resthaven Nursing Home and Crescent Manor as a Nurse Aid. She was a faithful member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church where she blessed everyone with her sweet disposition and smile. Louise enjoyed gardening, fishing, and her solar powered flowers in the window of her room at The Waters. Those left to cherish Louise’s memory include her daughter, Brenda A. (husband: Stanley, Sr.) Sharp of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Shelley, Karen Shelley, Steve Shelley, Diana Miller, Jeffrey Shelley, Rhonda Lou Shelley, Stanley Sharp Jr., Amy Beall, and Bobbi Jo Shelley; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Thompson and Frank (wife: Edith) Thompson of New Castle; a sister, Lena Bertram of Greenfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Wendell Shelley; two sons, Hugh Shelley in 1995 and Bobby Shelley in 2006; a sister, Opal Parrigin; two brothers, Bill and Russell Thompson; an infant sister, Eva Lucy Thompson and three sisters-in-law, Gleah, Artie and Louise Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church with Pastor Don Raines officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
