Lynda Smith

January 23, 1952 - March 24, 2022

Lynda Smith, 70, of New Castle, passed away peacefully early on Thursday morning, March 24, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 23, 1952 in Logan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Sadie (Rowe) and Walker Copley. Lynda was a very strong and independent lady. She was a hard worker and owned and operated many different businesses including Smith’s Tree Service for many years. Lynda kept her home immaculate and greatly enjoyed her flowers and plants. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them. Lynda was a loving mom, grandma, sister, and aunt. Those left to cherish Lynda’s memory include her loving daughter, Tonya Talavera of New Castle; grandchildren, Brandon Talavera, Austin Talavera, and Caitlynn Talavera, all of New Castle; one sister, Eloise Copley of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her son, Frank Lee Smith Jr.; six brothers, Ernie, Clifford, Clyde, Glen, Rob, and Walk Copley, and four sisters, Shirley, Ann, Ruby, and Ethel Copley. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 28, 2022 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
