Marjorie "Sue" Tamsett Roberts

Marjorie "Sue" Tamsett Roberts, 78, of New Castle, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. She was born February 7, 1931, in Parker City, a daughter of the late Charles and Irene Kiger. Sue spent most of her life in Muncie, but had also lived in Knightstown, New Castle, and Garden City, Michigan. She graduated in 1949 from Royerton High School and had worked Turner’s Nursing Home and Merchants National Bank. She was a member of the Anderson Bible Holiness Church and had served as secretary/treasurer of the Tri-County Holiness Association. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading biographies, and jigsaw puzzles, but her greatest joy in life was attending church services, camp meetings, and revivals and witnessing to others about Jesus. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Rev. Russell Roberts; three daughters, Linda Rich and Cinda Tamsett, both of Muncie, and Brenda Keihn of Richmond; a step-son, Gary (wife: Cindy) Roberts of Kokomo; two step-daughters, Marjorie (husband: Linville) Patterson of Kingston, Tennessee, and Theresa (husband: Rob) Freeman of Hillsboro, Kansas; four grandchildren, MeLinda (husband: Joshua) Coleman of Muncie, Robert (wife: Tabitha) Keihn of New Castle, Lori (husband: Robert) DuBois of Richmond, and Brock Tamsett; nine step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, Destiny, Chloe, Kenton, and Griffin Coleman, Dylan, Kiara and Lillian Keihn, Tristan Jones, Trinity and Brent DuBois, Sophia Pettigrew and Emilee Cox; 12 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (wife: Katherine) Kiger of San Lorenzo, California and James (wife: Betty) Kiger of Fremont, California; a sister, Phyllis Hicks of Jamestown, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Tamsett and two brothers, Charles and Donald Kiger. A celebration of her home going will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Muncie. Family and friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
