Mary Elizabeth Bell

February 25, 1925 - June 13, 2017

Mary Elizabeth (Sampley) Bell, 92, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born on February 25, 1925 in Avon, Indiana, a daughter of the late Oscar D. and Rosa Elizabeth (McFall) Sampley. Mary lived in the New Castle area all of her life, she married the love of her life, Isaac M. Bell, on October 9, 1943 and raised five children. Together they enjoyed 65 years until his passing in 2009. Mary had worked at the New Castle High School Cafeteria and also volunteered at the Christian Love Help Center. She attended the South Memorial Drive Church of God and was devoted to her family and to the Lord. She greatly enjoyed attending Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Mary loved to keep a clean house and was an excellent cook. For many years, she enjoyed wintering with her husband in Florida. Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include three daughters, Linda (husband: Bob) Burris of New Castle, Kathy (husband: Donald) King of New Castle and Becky (husband: Edward) McConnell of Cambridge City; a son, Barry Bell (companion: Jennifer) of Seattle, WA; 7 grandchildren, Lisa (husband: Jim) Klanke, Neil (wife: Mitzi) Burris; Jason (companion: Kristin) Burris, Benjamin (wife: Liz) Grant, Michael Grant, Cheryl Sons and Brian (wife: Alison) McConnell; 18 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hallie Klankie, Nathan and Sam Burris, Jack (wife: Mackenzie) Spangler, Noah and Annie Spangler, Riley, Jared, Camryn and Addie Burris, Emma Koch, Alexander and Aurelia Grant, Alex and Andrew Sons, Kyle and Katie McConnell; one great-great-grandson, John Luke Spangler and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac M. Bell; a son, Ronald Bell; nine brothers, Alton, Randall, Willard, Winford, David, Carlos, James, Adrian and Edward Sampley and a sister, Grace Pearl Sampley. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday and 11:00 am until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
