Nick Goar

June 5, 1938 - April 20, 2022

Nick Goar, 83, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Henry Community Health. He was born June 5, 1938, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Roy and Geneva Ruth (VanBentheysen) Goar. Nick was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School. He began a career in the jewelry business in the 1960's and owned Smith’s Jewelers in New Castle. Nick loved being a jeweler and at one time owned seven jewelry stores across Indiana. He was a dedicated member of Foursquare Church and over the years had been very active in the Full Gospel Men’s Association. He was a member of Lodge No. 91 F&AM, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and a member of the New Castle Elks Lodge #484. Nick enjoyed golfing, wintering in Naples, FL, and driving his ‘86 convertible Mercedes in local parades. He especially loved participating in the Memorial Day Parade. He is survived by his wife, Connie (Swoveland) Goar; two sons, Van Goar and Andy Goar (partner: Allison Hill); two step-daughters, Cheri Boggs, and Jennifer Florea (Jim); a brother, Roy Goar (Norma); two sisters, Mary Juanita Zimbeck and Henrietta Lea Willis; three grandchildren, Madeline Goar, Nicholas Goar, and Gavin Goar; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by one brother, Max, and three sisters, Francis, Ruth Ann, and Marjorie. Per Nick’s request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be offered to the Henry County Salvation Army, 2500 Washington Street, New Castle, Indiana, 47362, Foursquare Church for the Agape Learning Center by Clicking Here, or to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association by Clicking Here.
