Ray O. Frost, 91, of New Castle passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his residence in Addison Place. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Henry County, Indiana, a son of Newell and Luta (Alexander) Frost. He attended New Castle schools and served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marines at the age of 16. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years during WWII where he was stationed on the USS Albany and USS Huntington cruisers. He was proud of his service to our country and liked to wear his military hats. Ray married Martha Jane Matney and was a devoted husband until her death in 2009. Ray was involved in several businesses in New Castle including the Kinert Soft Water Service, Quality Motors and soft ice cream businesses. He served on the Henry County Council at large and was a member of the American Legion Post #137. Ray will be remembered for his kindness to family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Cox and Frances Ledgerwood. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery with military honors conducted by contingents from the U.S. Navy and American Legion.
