    Robert Elisha Dean

    June 5, 1926 - May 6, 2014

    Robert Elisha Dean, 87, of Knightstown, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, May 6, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 5, 1926 in Greensburg, a son of the late William Elisha and Sylvia Pearl (Blair) Dean. Bob grew up at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown from age 3 until his senior year at Greensburg High School where he graduated in 1946. Bob married the love of his life, Betty Lou Todd, on August 1, 1952. He worked at Modernfold Industries for 25 years and also assisted in the family business, Dean Ambulance. Bob was an artist and loved to paint. He was a family man and enjoyed fishing and playing guitar and piano with his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Betty Lou Dean; three children, Tamara J. Spencer (companion: Donald Rodgers), Kalynn S. Dean and Landon J. Dean all of Knightstown; three grandchildren, Ashley Dean (fiancé: Zac Cleek), Brittney Dean and Cameron Dean; a sister, Opal Maxine Smallback of Topeka, KS; a special cousin, Nelrose Cook of Greensburg and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Dean in 2012 and two half-brothers, Cecil and Harry Morton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis DeWitt and Rev. Ron DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of Henry County or the American Stroke Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
