Roger Neideffer Bales

Roger Neideffer Bales was born on September 8, 1953 in New Castle, Indiana. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 10, 2024 with family and close friends by his side. He was an honest man, a down to earth, no frills, just get ‘er done kind of guy. He was intelligent, creative, and was able to build or repair just about anything. He was technically savvy and would share his knowledge and skills when others needed his help. As a young child, Roger spent a few years in England, including attending first grade there. After moving back to the United States, he lived in the Mooreland and Blountsville areas with his grandfather, Roy Bales, where he attended school and worked on the farm. During those years, Roger established many lifelong friendships and has remained in contact with many of those friends via social media. In 1972, Roger became an Indiana State Licensed Certified Electronic Technician, Television Service Tech, and Master Antenna Installer. Then, in 1977 he moved to Texas where he had a robust career in Farming and in the Electronic Technical fields. He lived in the Fort Hood area, Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton and Temple, Texas. He spent many years working at the University of Texas at Austin in the Physics Department with the FRC Tokamak Thermo Nuclear Fusion Reactor Tech Staff under the D.O.E.. In 2003, he met Angelika and they have spent the past 20 years together building a life at their beautiful country home near New Braunfels, Texas. He has enjoyed spending time with Angelika’s daughters, Christina, husband Abran, and Alexandra, and three beautiful granddaughters, Marina, Elena, and August. He also dearly loved his two sweet dogs, Bella and Molly. Roger is survived by a sister, Rita, husband Allen, of Alabama, three half-brothers Tim, John Daniel, Tony, his mother Betty, and his close friends, Kathy and Danny Morrison, who made his wish come true of returning to Mooreland, IN for burial. Since retirement, Roger has focused on many of his hobbies, such as Ham Radio, Antique Tractor Pulling and Restoration, Classic Cars, Antique Electronics Restoration, and Computers. Roger was also a talented musician and had recently begun playing piano again. A service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
