Sandra Sue Thompson

November 5, 1943 - February 14, 2015

Sandra Sue Thompson, 71, of Columbia, Tennessee and formerly of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 in her son’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 5, 1943 in Raceland, Kentucky a daughter of the late James Clifford and Lula Marie (Buckler) Caldwell. Sandra attended Raceland High School and married the love of her life, George Garrett Thompson and together they enjoyed many happy years before his death in 2006. She was a lifelong homemaker and over the years had been a caretaker for several of her family members. She was a member of the Wesleyan Chapel Church. She enjoyed cooking and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She was a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club. Sandra dearly loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Thompson (special friend: Charles Reynolds) of Columbia, Tennessee and Johnny (wife: Cora) Thompson of Albany; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Maxine Fannin and Shirley Lester; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Gay Neal of Muncie. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Thompson; a son, George E. Thompson; a daughter, Lula M. Thompson; brothers, Charles, James and Willard Caldwell and her sisters, Anna May Chapman, Katherine Matthews and Monalee Yongue. Services will held at 12:00 noon Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Wesleyan Chapel Church, 1819 E. 26th St. Muncie, with Pastor Mark Heskett officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
