William R. Sabo

William R. Sabo, 71, of Springport, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, October 18, 2014. He was born July 20, 1943 in Mather, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Steven William and Julia (Pushkaric) Sabo. Bill was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School in Jefferson, PA. He worked in Engineering at Chevrolet in Muncie for 30 years. Following his retirement from General Motors he founded INTEC Engineering and Sales retiring in 2006. Bill was a long-time member of Springport Christian Church where he served as board chairman, elder, trustee and deacon. He was also a trustee of Woodlawn Christian Cemetery. Bill was currently a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, boating, and travelling for business and with his family. He especially loved time spent at their home on Lake Lemon and at his cabin in the woods. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gay (Young) Sabo; three children, Scott Sabo of Greensburg, PA, Shawn Sabo of Springport and Susan (husband: Warren) Guffey of Springport; eight grandchildren, Audra, Nick, Emily, Allison and Matthew Sabo, Cody, Conner and Carissa Guffey; a brother, Steve (wife: Sonnie) Sabo of Bedford, PA; a sister, Judy (husband: John) Rizno of Jefferson, PA and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Guffey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Arnett and Rev. David Siebenaler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
