Christina Sue Osborn

Christina Sue “Chris” Osborn, 57, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on October 17, 1968, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of Kenneth Richard “Ken” and Sandra Kay “Sandy” (Campbell) Grubb. Chris was a 1988 graduate of Franklin Central High School. She married the love of her life, Edward Gilbert “Ed” Osborn, on June 22, 2002, 13 years after their first date. Chris was an extraordinary woman who lived and loved well. She was joyful, high-energy, adventurous, and full of life. Even throughout her battle with illness, she carried herself with a smile, a laugh, and a strength that encouraged those around her. She could be wonderfully stubborn, always determined, and always ready to help wherever help was needed. A dedicated and faithful Christian, Chris loved the Lord and lived out her faith through service to others. She was generous and giving, the kind of person who would give the coat off her back if someone else needed it. She never wanted to sit still while others were working and was always willing to lend a hand. Chris was a faithful member of Columbus Baptist Church, where she was involved in many different areas of ministry, especially children’s ministries. She was dependable, prepared, and particular in the best way, always wanting things to be done well. Her love for children was also seen through her volunteer work as a Book Buddy at her grandson’s school, where she enjoyed reading to children and helping them learn. She felt a calling to help veterans and did so by volunteering at the USO at Camp Atterbury, often saying, “Freedom is not free!” Family was most important to Chris. She loved being a wife, mother, grandma, and sister, and her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She treasured time spent with those she loved and found happiness in both the special moments and the simple everyday ones. Chris enjoyed gardening, cooking, hiking, climbing, being outdoors, and especially spending time in Brown County. Her children have fond memories of her teaching them to climb and they climbed mountains in Arizona. She loved nature, stargazing, word puzzles, and anything that challenged her mind. She also enjoyed going to movies at YES Cinema in Columbus and going shooting with her son. Over the years, Chris worked as a CNA and also worked at Harry & David. She was excellent in customer service and had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. In addition to her parents of Indianapolis, those left to cherish Chris’s memory include her husband, Ed Osborn; two children, Joshua Shane “Josh” Grubb of Noblesville and Sabrina Elayne Schiller of Columbus; three grandchildren, Adam, Eric, and Anthony; a bonus granddaughter, Ahlaynah; her siblings, Jeanne Lamkin of Indianapolis, Terry Grubb of Indianapolis, Joseph (Leigh Anne) Grubb of Cicero, and Cynthia (William) Cooney of Dewitt, MI; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Columbus Baptist Church, 4821 N. US Highway 31, Columbus, IN 47201, with Pastor Chuck Kennedy officiating. In honor of Christina’s zest for life, she would be pleased if everyone wore bright colors rather than black or other dark colors.
