Connie P. (Ragan) Martin

Connie P. (Ragan) Martin, 78, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Saturday, June 14, 2025, following an extended illness. She was born on June 11, 1947, in Alpha, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Oscar and Gladys Pearl (Owens) Ragan. Connie was a 1965 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle. She loved to laugh and have a good time. Everyone who knew Connie knew she was “her own person.” She began her career as a waitress at Top Hat Pizza and later served as the bookkeeper there for many years. When she moved to Muncie, she worked as a secretary at a moving company. Connie also worked for Peerless Plumbing and Heating in Kokomo as a purchasing agent and finished her working career at Rural King in Kokomo. Connie loved the outdoors and animals, especially her horses and cats. She enjoyed showing her quarter horses at horse shows. Connie's creativity and talent for detail were exhibited through her hobby of ceramics. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and get-togethers at her folks’ home. Those left to cherish Connie’s memory include her brother, Mike (Bobi) Ragan of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Donna Ragan of New Castle; several nieces and nephews, Michael (Kim) Ragan of New Castle, Nicole Ragan-Walker (Earl) of Pendleton, Ryan (Melissa) Ragan of New Palestine, Ross (Tasha) Ragan of New Castle, and Morgan (Courtney) Ragan of Greenwood; great-nieces and nephews, Hunter Ragan, Austin Ragan, Evan Dutrow, Brendan Ragan, Caiden Ragan, Haylee Ragan, twins, Jayden and Jackson Ragan, and Colton Ragan; two uncles, Nelson (Lana) Owens of Burkesville, KY and Lloyd (Debbie) Owens of Crawfordsville, and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mabel Ragan, a brother, Ronald Ragan, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5:00 pm to the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be offered to the Henry County Humane Society, the South Memorial Drive Church of God - Food Pantry, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
