Danny E. Isaacs

Danny E. Isaacs, 83, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by those he loved, and the cat, on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1942, in Richmond, Indiana, a son of the late Elzie Lee “Shorty” and Sally (Williams) Isaacs. Danny was a 1961 graduate of Richmond High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and courageously served two tours in Vietnam. Following his active-duty service, he continued serving his country through the Indiana National Guard for 11 years and then he spent 24 years in the Indiana Guard Reserve. A gifted craftsman, Danny was a master at working with steel and seemed able to make it do whatever he wanted. He especially enjoyed rebuilding cars, often beginning with little more than a frame and patiently restoring the entire vehicle. His love for motorcycles and automobiles remained with him throughout his life. Danny was ornery, fun-loving, and always ready to play a joke on someone. A true adrenaline junkie, he had a lifelong need for speed. He raced motorcycles at Muncie Dragway and famously crashed at 125 miles per hour near the finish line. In true Danny fashion, he later joked that he was probably the only racer to cross the finish line before his motorcycle did. Danny worked as a welder for Chrysler Corporation for more than 31 years before retiring. For the past 30 years, he also looked forward to escaping Indiana and spending the winter season in Daytona Beach, Florida. On February 14, 1996, Danny married the love of his life, Deborah Asberry. Together, they shared 30 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Danny and Deborah attended North 14th Street Church of God. Those left to cherish Danny’s memory include his loving wife, Deborah Sue Isaacs; his stepsons, Alex (Tina) Pierce of New Castle, Ritchie (Robin) Pierce of Cleveland, Ohio, Jayson (Amy) Madden of New Castle, and Josh (Renee) Madden of Mooreland; his bonus children, Rachel Johnson and Jenni Williams, both of New Castle; his grandchildren, Michael Dawn Isaacs, Janet Binford, Carolyn Bo Isaacs, Tyler Pierce, Alexa Davis, Corbin, Isaac, Eliza, Gabriella, Jacob, and Ally Madden; his bonus grandchildren, Desirae Lane, Leala Williams, Austin Burke, Abbey Jones, Coltynn Johnson, McKayla Johnson, and Ronald Johnson; his brothers, Dewayne (Cindy) Isaacs of Richmond and Denver Isaacs of Richmond; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Katza. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his son, Michael Isaacs; his stepson, Scott Madden; two grandsons, Robin Isaacs and William Grant Boe Madden; a brother, Ray (Linda) Isaacs; and his former wife and good friend, Ann “Blondie” Weiss. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Sproles Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery, with military funeral honors provided by the U.S. Army, American Legion Post #137, and V.F.W. Post #1282. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00–8:00 p.m at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Forest Ridge Fortune Fund for cancer research.
