Earl N. Thrasher

Earl N. Thrasher, 82, of Muncie, joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, October 30, 2023, after battling health issues for a long period of time. He was born on October 7, 1941 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Virgil and Artie (Smith) Thrasher. Earl was the last surviving of eight children: Ramey Edward Thrasher, Nettie Michelson, Harmon Thrasher, Jim Thrasher, Don Thrasher, Anna Lines, and Vina Robinson. Earl had a long career in corrugated packaging, serving as Plant Manager at the New Castle Diamond Container plant, JSC/CCA, Bell Fibre in Marion, and Tavens Containers of Cleveland, OH, before retiring from Eberhard Manufacturing in Strongsville, OH. Earl enjoyed many hobbies, including flying RC airplanes, amateur radio, IU Basketball, tech gadgets, and woodworking. As he got older, Earl enjoyed keeping up with friends, family, and past acquaintances on social media. Earl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carolyn (Bell) Thrasher; sons, Randy A. (Cynthia) Thrasher of St. John and Jeffrey Andrew Thrasher of Muncie; grandsons, Scott Allen (Amanda) Thrasher of Plainfield, Michael Ryan Thrasher of Highland, and Nicholas Earl Thrasher of Burnham, IL; granddaughters, Amanda (Nathan) Pliska of Toledo, OH, and Paige Marie Thrasher of New Lennox, IL; great-grand-daughter, Emily Iris Thrasher of Aurora, IL; a sister-in-law, Donna Thrasher of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and siblings, Earl was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Sue Thrasher. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Bell and Rev. Michael Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
