Frank Arthur Brooks Sr.

Frank Arthur Brooks Sr., 76, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, October 7, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 2, 1947, in Seymour, Indiana, a son of the late Hazle Arthur and Emma Jane (Bush) Brooks. Frank graduated from Seymour High School in 1966. He earned his journeyman’s card and started work at Cummins Columbus Engine Plant. Frank spent 13 years at Borg Warner, then Metaldyne, Dana, and Rolls Royce in Indianapolis. He finished his career at Boar’s Head Provisions in New Castle. Frank was extremely generous and a blessing to everyone he met. He married the love of his life, Esther Faye Westerman, on November 17, 1973. A continuous learner with many varied interests, Frank enjoyed gunsmithing, leatherworking, woodworking, aerial photography, scuba diving, and stained glass creation. He was musical and enjoyed playing banjo. Frank was a sharpshooter, winning many shooting contests, and was a long-time member of the NRA. He was a respected elder at the Tabernacle of Praise in Muncie and served as a Gideon for 38 years, taking great joy in distributing Bibles. Frank poured love and kindness into the next generation and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Those left to cherish Frank’s memory include his wife of almost 51 years, Esther Brooks; two sons, Frank Arthur Brooks II (wife: Amy) of Mooreland and James Kuntz (wife: Misty) of Losantville; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Tatlock, Kristianna Nugent, Isaiah Couch, Aysha, Cheyenne, Madilyn, and Zion Brooks, Kelsey Ibrahim, Thane Brooks, Aedan Gettinger, and Gabriel Brooks; 10 great-grandchildren, Izabella “little bit” Couch, Ariella, Averianna, Aria, Adalynn, and Amberlynne Nugent, Kaison Tatlock, Margaret, Virginia, and James Redmond, a half-sister, Marilyn Berry of Whiting, NJ and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Ames, and three brothers, Roger, David, and Bill Brooks. A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastors Frank and Amy Brooks officiating.
